Dr. Wenger holds a PhD. in psychology from the University of Miami. He began his studies of psychology at Brandeis University in Massachusetts where he graduated with Honors.

After working for several international marketing companies in New York City, Dr. Wenger resumed his studies at the University of Miami where he completed his doctoral work in psychology through the Department of Educational and Psychological Studies. While at the University of Miami, Dr. Wenger was fortunate enough to work with several nationally and internationally known professors, including Dr. Theodore Millon. It was under Dr. Millon’s mentoring that Dr. Wenger developed a specialty in the area of personality development and where he was given the opportunity to begin his writing career.

Dr. Wenger also completed a pre-doctoral internship at Jackson Memorial Hospital at the University of Miami Medical School. In this placement, Dr. Wenger was elected Chief Intern and completed rotations in pediatric neuropsychology, pediatric behavioral medicine, trauma and abuse, family therapy, and in-patient and out-patient therapy. Dr. Wenger remained at Jackson for an additional year where he completed a Fellowship in Pediatric Behavioral Medicine.

Dr. Wenger has been affiliated with the University of Miami as a professor and psychologist for the past 20 years, initially in a full-time capacity, later as an adjunct professor, and now as a consultant psychologist with the Athletic Department. In this capacity, he has taught several courses, including courses on child and adolescent psychological assessment, child and adolescent therapy, and family therapy. He has also supervised masters level and doctoral students pursuing their graduate degrees in the university's training clinic. Currently, he works closely with the athletic department in evaluating and treating the student-athletes that attend the university and providing consultative services in this regard.

In addition, Dr. Wenger has worked in schools, private practice settings, community mental health centers, and employee assistance programs. He has also worked with the Family Court System where he has been certified by the Florida State Supreme Court as a Family Mediator and by the 11th Judicial Circuit as a Parent Coordinator. In this capacity, he has also served as an expert witness and he has been court appointed as a Guardian Ad Litem as well.

Dr. Wenger will provide patients with the necessary documentation to seek out reimbursements from their insurance companies when applicable. However, he does not work directly with insurance companies. This allows Dr. Wenger to manage his counseling and evaluations as is best indicated while also maintaining complete confidentiality.
